We’d like to say that your presence at our wedding will be the greatest gift we could imagine. The time, effort, and expense of traveling to be with us is something we sincerely appreciate, and we are hopeful that we will be able to celebrate our special day with you. When we started looking into an appropriate registry, we realized that we already own most of the household items that we need, in some cases, two or three of things. Last July, when we merged our homes, Jeryd and I were extremely fortunate to have everything we needed for our little home here in Knoxville, Tennessee. Instead of a traditional registry, we have created two items in our registry that would make us truly happy!
The first item in our registry is asking for people to donate to our ALS Fund. Jeryd and I have dedicated our lives to making the lives of people better. We both agreed that helping others on our special day was exactly what we wanted to do. So, we ask those of you that are so inclined to donate to the ALS Association (Texas Chapter) in honor of Jeryd’s grandfather, Dan Peaslee, who passed away from ALS on August 14, 2017. When Jeryd talks about his grandfather, you can see the love and admiration on his face and hear them in his words. Through Jeryd and the rest of the family, I have come to understand some things about Dan Peaslee. Jeryd has fondly related that “Poppy was a man who was known for his conversations. A man who could get a rock to share its life story with him. In my entire life, I don’t that Poppy ever lost an arm-wrestling match. Poppy was intensely passionate about the Halloween season, so much so that we had to build a haunted attraction in his driveway. Poppy was a man who loved deeply and gave freely—a man who taught at every
opportunity. Poppy would also test someone’s gullibility at every opportunity. Even as he lost his physical strength and the ability to speak due to ALS, he did not lose his great passion for life, deep love for his family, or his endless joy for messing with people. Poppy was not defeated, even as he lost his battle with this terrible disease.” As you can probably guess, we are very passionate about helping make the lives of people living with ALS better. In cooperation with the ALS Association|Texas Chapter, we have created a Fundraising Campaign on our Guest Registry. Click here—> [ALS Donation Registry]
The second item on our registry is a honeymoon. We know that this isn’t your ordinary wedding registry, but we both wanted something uniquely us, reflecting what we love to do. We both love to travel and want to plan a trip of a lifetime. We know that this trip will not only celebrate the start of our new life together but will create lifelong memories as well. We set up a honeymoon travel registry through
Traveler’s Joy™, so that we can truly make the most of your generous gift. Honestly, we’re looking forward to some time away from the school, to unwind and also have some fun while we’re at it! We haven’t decided where we are going- there are so many places we want to explore- but with the COVID-19 Pandemic, we figure it would best to hold off until we get the all-clear. Although we don’t know where or when we will be going, once we get back, we will make sure to post lots of pictures in our online gallery of us enjoying whatever experience you’ve contributed to! As we said at the start of this blog, your presence at our wedding is what’s most important to us. Everything else is just cake!
