Okay so we were supposed to go to Archer’s last week, but we hit a little snafu.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are currently only open for take-out and curbside pickup.  The four of us were all starving, so we diverted our hunger to a non-barbecue eatery and made plans to get back together this week to evaluate the last place on my elaborate plan of find the best barbecue in East Tennessee.   It is noteworthy at this point to mention that because they didn’t have a dining room open, we took the opportunity to schedule a little R&R with some B&B (Board Games and Barbecue).

I was put in charge of picking up the eats-n-treats on my way home from my dance lesson.  Since we were gonna be playing games most of the evening, I decided to get just about everything on the menu except for the beer.

The sauces were definitely the highlight of our Archer’s experience.  Everyone we’ve talked to, including the caterers, think they’ve got the best brisket in the city.  The potato salad was interesting and tasted a lot like Lay’s French Onion Dip.  I’ve never been much of potato salad fan, but I liked it for once.   Everyone else thought it was strange.  Eddie, is a huge fan of mustard-based potato salads so with his nose crinkled up, it was a big no-go on the Lay’s Potato Salad for him.  By this time, we knew we weren’t looking for sides.

In the end, Famous Dave’s was the runner up.  Archer’s undeniably gave us the best selection, with six of the most diverse and absolutely unbelievable sauces.  Archer’s brisket and pulled pork are probably the best we’ve ever had and what put them miles ahead of everyone else was having barbecued jackfruit on the catering menu. We have a lot of vegetarian and vegan friends that will be attending and we wanted them to enjoy the evening as much as everyone else.

Just so you know…my elaborate plan worked!  We got to hang out with two of our favorite people, eat a lot of unbelievable barbecue, and even got to play some games as a bonus.  So, in the end, yeah, we chose Archer’s Barbecue for our reception.  You can find their website here https://archersbbq.com/.  Go give’m a looksies and get ready for a tremendous evening filled with food, drink, music, and dancing!
